Magnesium helps to relax muscles. My favorite version is sustained release magnesium malate, taken twice daily. It helps to keep my shoulders away from my ears so that my energy is focused on my most important tasks and not being used up by generalized tension.
A great complement to the magnesium is tryptophan supplementation at bedtime. Tryptophan is the amino acid that your brain turns into serotonin, the neurotransmitter molecule that helps you feel both calm and sleepy. If taken one hour before bedtime, tryptophan encourages a natural and sustained sleep for about 8 hours, without morning grogginess. Any extra serotonin that is left over in your brain the next morning helps to contribute to a calm and balanced day.
For the month of March, buy a bottle of sustained release magnesium ($24) and receive a complimentary bottle of tryptophan (a $24 value).
